Historic places are not fixed in time. They continue to evolve through careful intervention, creative thinking and a deep understanding of what makes them significant. As the challenges facing our built environment become increasingly complex, innovation is playing an essential role in how we conserve, adapt and extend the life of heritage today, while creating the heritage of tomorrow.
As part of the 2026 Open House Festival, our exhibition explores the many ways innovation is transforming conservation practice.
Through a curated selection of projects, drawings, digital tools, material studies, films and artefacts, it reveals how architects, researchers, technologists and craftspeople work together to unlock new possibilities within existing buildings and places.
